Addressing stakeholders during the launch, Coca-Cola brand manager, Vee Chibanda said that this year’s tournament was one with a significant change as the Delta Beverages group will award the same figure to both boys and girls unlike in previous tournaments.

This is a first in football where women football has always had lower rewards as compared to their male counterparts.

“This year, we have realized that there is no reason why the boys should get more than what the girls get. So, the good news is, as we mark our 30th anniversary, we have equaled the prize monies.

“The prizes will be the same for the girls and the boys, so everyone let’s play to the best of our potential as we are set to win the same,” said Chibanda.

She added that Zimbabwe’s 2018 Dream Team will represent the country at a regional camp on a date to be advised.

Present at the launch representing Cop Coca Cola legends, former Mighty Warriors striker, Rudo Neshamba also highlighted the need for there to be equal remuneration between male and female football players.

In its 30 year journey, the tournament has produced some of the country’s best players so far who include Peter Ndlovu, Khama Billiat, Biggy Zuze.
