Zimbabwe Online (ZOL) a retail division of Liquid Telecom has proved beyond all imaginations that it is not just an ordinary Internet Service Provider but rather a solutions company well established to transform modern businesses and lives of individuals.
Attending the ZOL Launch 2018 at Sam Levy’s Village last week, we witnessed the ISP delivering yet another band of exciting innovations, the first of their kind to be launched in Zimbabwe.
ZOL’s first product to be ushered into the Zim market that night was the ZOL VR App. The service can be paired with Virtual Reality headsets to get a stimulated experience through senses and perception. Guests present at the launch were gifted with VR handsets which they paired with the ZOL VR App to experience an immersive viewing environment that can be similar to the real world. ZOL’s latest app is available for download on Google PlayStore.
ZOL has become Zimbabwe’s first ISP to introduce a service powered by artificial intelligence as seen in their VR App. A person using virtual reality equipment is able to “look around” the artificial world, move around in it, and interact with virtual features or items. The effect is commonly created by VR headsets consisting of a head-mounted display with a small screen in front of the eyes, but can also be created through specially designed rooms with multiple large screens.
To cap up the night in style, ZOL also launched WiBronks, a wireless Internet service powered by LTE using Wireless To The Home (WTTH) technology. Wibroniks will be rolled across the country riding on Liquid Telecom’s LTE base stations.
ZOL’s WiBroniks Internet has been specifically designed to serve areas which do not have physical fibre cables like high density suburbs. Like the usual Fibroniks, WiBroniks also gives subscribers fierce download and upload speeds of upto 20Mbps, which is ten times faster than common ADSL speeds.
On top of introducing cutting edge Internet access technologies, ZOL now distributes KwesePlay services which can be streamed through the ISP’s fibre powered network. ZOL becomes an official distributor of Television content after its sister company, Econet Media has been awarded a broadcasting license by the Broadcasting Authority of Zimbabwe (BAZ).
