Zimbabwe’s Karen Mukwedeya makes it to TLC’s “lucky 13”

Today, TLC in association with Colgate Optic White announced KAREN MUKWEDEYA as the eighth semi-finalist making it through to the next stage of the TLC Next Great Presenter search. This young producer from Harare, Zimbabwe secured her spot in the “Lucky 13” from more than 1500 auditions received from across the continent.

“It feels amazing to be one of the “Lucky 13”! I really didn’t expect the news,” says Karen. “I started working at a local production company where I fell in love with presenting. Since then, I have continued to try to improve myself, she continued.

Karen describes herself as determined, passionate and hardworking. While she never managed to complete her journalism degree, Karen has never let anything stop her from making sure she achieves her goals.

I believe I have what it takes to be TLC’s Next Great Presenter because I am passionate about presenting. While I started behind the camera, I ended up in front of the camera where I developed a love and appreciation for presenting. In addition to my presenting skills, I also have a strong understanding of producing, script writing and editing,” explains Karen.

Now, all roads lead to Cape Town for Boot Camp where Karen along with 12 other contestants from all over Africa aim to turn their 90-second video audition into their dream job. During the four-day Boot Camp, they will be put through their presenting paces by the judges and industry experts as they undertake screen tests, performance coaching, fashion styling, as well as brand and media training to see who really has what it takes to be a host on Africa’s #1 lifestyle and entertainment channel.
