Zimbabwe’s Biggest Braai Day Campaign Launched

Castle Lager has launched yet another exciting edition of the biggest braai activity in Zimbabwe called ‘The Castle Lager National Braai day’ to be held on the 28th of October 2017 at Old Hararians Sports Club in Harare.

This is according to the organizers, the biggest braai event to be held in this country. A similar event held last saw a record 12,680kgs of meat consumed in one day and this year’s target has been set at 15,000 kgs of meat!.

Themed the “Ultimate Braai-Together Serving Others”, the idea was born from the strong association between braai activities in the country, beer consumption and listening to music.

Castle Lager as the flagship clear beer brand for Delta Beverages is giving all braai lovers a platform to come together and set their own record of braaing 15,000kgs of meat, enjoy their favorite lager whilst listening to good music on the day all for a good cause of donating meat to Harare and Mpilo Hospitals.

The campaign this year took off with a referendum where Castle Lager consumers are being requested to vote to make the last Saturday of October the official Castle Lager National Braai Day.

This referendum has created a lot of excitement in the market with over 200,000 votes having come through within a week of launching the campaign. Consumers of castle lager will be called to serve others in the month of October through various activities lined up for each day like picking up litter, carrying heavy loads for older people etc.

As part of cementing its communication platform launched last year titled “It all comes together with a Castle” this braai day will see the Gigmaster (music), the braaimaster (braai) and the brewmaster (castle) coming together bringing to life what Castle stands for.

It is a day filled with fun and activity where records will be broken. We want to consume 15,000kgs of meat on the day, have the longest bar of up to 150m and the biggest crowd to attend a single braai event.

To add to the excitement like last year a braaiometer will be on site showing the consumption levels of meat as the day progresses.

Not only is this event being held to drive the brand proposition through experiential marketing, we are also holding this event as a drive towards corporate social responsibility.

For every kilogram of meat consumed, Castle Lager will donate an equivalent amount that will be shared equally by Mpilo General Hospital in Bulawayo and Harare Hospital.

“We are encouraging everyone to participate in this worthy cause remembering that for every glass of Castle Lager raised, the cheer goes way beyond the beer to help our brothers and sisters who are hospitalised especially during the festive season,” noted Delta Beverages in a statement released on Thursday.

The event will be held in partnership with Boomerang, Family 24, Paramount and Farai who will be assisting with the braaing of meat.

Organizers have also lined up “Castle Lager National Braai day Promotion” that will run in selected outlets and consumers stand a chance of walking away with castle cooler boxes, aprons or braai stands.

For one to participate they are required to buy either a 375ml Castle pint, 330ml can, 440ml can or 750ml quart and collect 4 crowns/red ring pulls with unique code underneath and attach these to an entry envelop and deposit these into a redemption box in a participating outlet.
