The campaign aims to educate and mobilize the rural electorate on the need to bring democratic change in the country ahead of the 2018 elections.
Leader of the Zimbabwe Yadzoka/Mayibuye iZimbabwe campaign, Victor Chimhutu told 263chat that the album will be distributed in rural areas across the country as a way of raising awareness on the need for democratic change in Zimbabwe.
The album contains satirical songs that talk of the dire economic and political situation in the country.
“The first track, Zimbabwe Yadzoka talks about the political and economic situation in the country and at the same time urges Zimbabweans to stand up and make sure that they address the dire situation in the country. The main message is that it is the duty of Zimbabweans themselves to address the situation in the country.
“The second track is called I Love You Zimbabwe and is about a person who was forced to go out of the country to look for employment despite being well educated. The third one, Too Much Chat talks about people who have got a tendency to talk too much yet they are doing little to address the situation of the people,” said Chimhutu.
The Zimbabwe Yadzoka campaign has so far been launched in Macheke, Uzumba, Mutare, Bulawayo province as well as Matabeleland North province.
Chimhutu added that the Zimbabwe Yadzoka/Mayibuye iZimbabwe campaign would intensify efforts to reach out to the rural populace through using various media as well.
This, he said, is meant to counter propaganda that has often been used to manipulate the rural populace by the ruling party, Zanu (PF).
“We want to make sure that we educate the rural populace enough ahead of the 2018 elections and this will be achieved through various means that include music as well as various publications that contain the message of change,” said Chimhutu.
