The Zimbabwe Professional Golfers Association (ZPGA) is hosting the inaugural invitational tournament at the Country Club in Harare and the tourney is set to attract a bulk of professional golfers.
At least more than 30 local and international professional golfers are taking part in the two day-invitational tournament.
The tournament has also seen the return of action by Marc Cayeaux for the first time since his horrific accident along Beitbridge road although he is still to get clearance from doctors.
The tournament comes after the recent election of a new executive led by veteran golfer Day Muyambo.
The newly-elected ZPGA is reportedly engaged in talks with potential sponsors to secure more tournaments in the future.
“Professional golfers need to play as often they should be to realise their potential and earn a living,” said Cedrik Jonker from the ZPGA committee.
The professional golfers were inactive for the better part of the 2014/15 season and have failed to play in regular tournaments.
Plans are also in the pipeline to set up an African PGA Tour along the lines of the European and Asian PGA Tours.
Competitions have been scarce in the past few years on the local Zambezi tour and that saw professional golfers failing participate in tournaments.
