Minister of Youth, Indigenization and Economic Development, Patrick Zhuwao has laid into the government’s command agriculture saying the country is not about command but ZimAsset.

Speaking at a youth seminar in Harare last week, Zhuwao appear to trash command agriculture programme saying said ZimAsset is the government’s main policy document and agenda.
Zhuwao who is also Mugabe’s nephew called for youth participation in national development programs such as ZimAsset.
“We must integrate young people within the framework of ZimAsset, by establishing programs where they can actively participate in national development,
“The government has established programs like Youth Feed Zim, Youth Shape Zim, Youth Make Zim, Youth Employ Zim to integrate the youth with the framework of the government,” he said.
“National Youth Policy provides a 25% quota for all economic activities and for youth to access this they have to be in the right institutional framework,” added Zhuwao.
He added that government will soon establish vocational centers in the 210 constituencies to accommodate the 300 000 unskilled youths to enable them to participate in national economic activities.
According to Zhuwao, the national youth policy seeks to ensure that all young women and men are given meaningful opportunities to reach their full potential, both as individuals and as active participants in society.
