Zimbabwe women will look to bounce back from their narrow 12-run loss to Ireland women when the two sides face off in the series-deciding third and final one-day match at St George’s College in Harare this Monday.
The hosts won the opening 50-over match comfortably by seven wickets courtesy of the Duckworth-Lewis method on Thursday, before they fell short of the 207-run target in the second one-dayer as the tourists drew the series level on Saturday.
Zimbabwe women’s coach Adam Chifo admitted Ireland were a tough side, but he believes his charges have what it takes to win the series.
“We put ourselves in this position by giving away the last game, so we are going to be careful how we go about our business this time round,” he said.
“We will try and maintain the pressure on Ireland like we have done in the last games.”
Chifo added: “Our loss was ours to blame as we failed to take advantage once we were in control. I don’t mean to disrespect Ireland, but I believe we were the better side in that encounter.”
Zimbabwe will be without top batter Mary-Anne Musonda for the decisive one-dayer as she has returned to her South Africa base.
“Obviously it affects our batting plan but we have equally good players who can fill up that gap and contribute as much as Mary,” Chifo said.
“We will play around with our batting order and I am sure we will have a solid one.”
