Zimbabwe gears up for home series against India

Two weeks before the beginning of the home series against India, the Zimbabwe senior men’s cricket squad has been divided into two, with one group going to train in Bulawayo and another remaining in Harare.

Zimbabwe will host India from the 8th to the 23rd of June, for a tour that will have three One-Day International (ODI) and three Twenty20 International (T20I) matches.

The first ODI match is on the 11th, the second on the 13th and the third on the 15th. The T20I matches are scheduled for the 18th, 20th and 22nd.

Twenty-three of the players will start camp in Bulawayo tomorrow, with head coach Davenell Whatmore, bowling Coach Makhaya Ntini and fitness trainer Sean Bell.

They will have a practice session at Queens Sports Club (QSC) in the morning, and similar sessions on Wednesday and Friday.

On Tuesday and Thursday, they will make two teams for 50-over practice matches and a Twenty20 practice match on Saturday afternoon – all at QSC.

The remainder of the practice squad will continue with practice sessions at Harare Sports Club, under Zimbabwe A coach Douglas Hondo.

The players will then regroup next Monday for their final preparations for the incoming tour by India, which will be led by Mahendra Singh Dhoni.
