‘Zim Situation, A Sordid Tale Of National Collapse’

The current Zimbabwe situation can best be described as a sordid tale of national collapse, the Tsvangirai led Movement for Democratic Change has said.

In a statement released to the media, MDC-T said Morgan Tsvangirai’s two meetings with opinion leaders in Mberengwa and Zvishavane, Midlands Province, laid bare the true state of affairs in the country as he was undated with complaints from people accusing the government and their employers of various offences including unpaid allowances, political abuse and collapsed infrastructure among others.

MDCT said traditional leaders who spoke to Tsvangirai had grievances to do with their allowances that were always in arrears.

“The community leaders representing the church, vendors’ unions, traditional leaders, teachers and even ordinary villagers all told heart-rending stories that testify to national collapse that only a new government can address,” said Luke Tamborinyoka, Tsvangirai’s spokesperson.

He added that former Shabanie mine workers complained that they are not receiving enough money in allowances from their employer.

“Allowances we are receiving are not worthy the work we are doing, I am no longer able to pay for my children’s school fees,” said one of the villagers who commented on conditions of anonymity.

Meanwhile, in a statement, Movement for Democratic Change leader Morgan Tsvangirai said that the situation is sordid tell of collapse.

He said everyone had grievances against Zanu PF and the people had an opportunity in the next election to vote for a new government that would address their grievances.

More so, civil servants also had their own well known grievances but they said they took great exception to the new curriculum foisted on them without consultation. They said it was ironic that under the new curriculum, they were expected to teach ICTs and computers even at schools without electricity.
