Zim Ready to Host African Debate Championships

Zimbabwe’s Midlands State University is ready to host the annual Pan African Universities Debate Championships (PAUDC) which will see over 800 students from 15 countries converging  in Gweru this December.

This edition of the PAUDC slated for 9 – 17 December; will see the continent’s top college and university debaters compete in British Parliamentary debate and public speaking. The Chairperson of the PAUDC council, Charity Makhala said MSU is ready to host the ninth installment of the tournament.

“I think Midlands State University is very ready to host Pan African Universities Debate Championships. The tournament has received great support from their management and the publicity of the tournament is impressive so far,” she said

“So given those two key areas of making the tournament a success MSU is ready,” Makhala added

Zimbabwe is taking over the hosting of the continental showpiece from Ghana, which hosted the 2015 edition and will join Botswana and South Africa in having hosted the prestigious tournament twice since its inception.

Pan African Universities Debate Championship is a platform of international intellectual engagement on topical contemporary issues affecting the African region from the Social to the economic spectrum.
