Its a dream come true for the 20-year-old break dancer, Kudzanai Mcmillian Chikowe who is set to represent Zimbabwe at the world’s biggest dance festival dubbed Dance Star’s World Dance Masters to be held in Porec, Croatia.

Chikowe who left the country on Tuesday for the event currently underway until the 27th of May 2018 will battle it out with over 7000 participants from more than 55 countries to take home €50 000 prize.

In an interview with 263Chat, Chikowe said he was humbled to be representing the country after failing to make it to a similar event in 2016.

“I feel very humbled to represent Zimbabwe out of all the good dancers l know. This is a great opportunity to the dancing community and i thank Jibilika for the opportunity they are giving to dance in the country and Dancestar for recognizing and supporting Zimbabwean talent

“I hope to learn more and represent my country well and inspire other youths positively,” said Chikowe.

European Star Dance Union (ESDU)’s DanceStar is sponsoring the ten participants with a round airfare ticket, visa, and additional travel costs to the location, accommodation full board, registration and starting fees, packages for seminars and shows. Zimbabwe through Jibilika Dance Trust is privileged to be a beneficiary.

DanceStar attributes the move to its appreciation of the African continent as the motherland of dance, whose dancers have a unique dance expression that is one of the most beautiful parts of African heritage.

Kudzai Chikowe started dancing in 2009 in his neighborhood of Kuwadzana in Harare and hopes to pursue dancing as a career. His unique dancing style combines amazing interpretations of break-dance and contemporary elements fused with the traditional Zimbabwean dance flavor.

Before emerging the national finalist, Chikowe held the best boy title from last Jibilika Dance Festival in 2016.
