The Zimbabwe International Film and Festival Trust (ZIFFT) has introduced a new concept to the forthcoming 17th Film Festival, a five-minute film competition called The Hi-Five Short Film. This year’s festival runs from 3-10 October 2015.
ZIFFT therefore calls on local filmmakers, amateurs and professionals, to participate in this project which will revolutionize filmmaking by submitting their films in DVD format at 2 Canterbury, Kensington, Avondale, or email a downloadable link to festival@zifft.org.
Filmmakers should ensure that the submitted film is a captivating non-dialogue work of art that is not a music video. Emphasis should therefore be on narrative and a well-told story with strong characters.
Submissions deadline is 30 September and the shorts will be screened during the 3-10 October ZIFF2015.
Winners will receive a cash prize and an opportunity to rent high quality filmmaking equipment for their next project.
The awards will be as follows:
First Place
- US$500, plus state of the art equipment rental to the value of $500.
Second Place
- State of the art equipment rental to the value of $300.
Third Place
- State of the art equipment rental to the value of $200.
The Hi-Five Short Film Competition is being run with sponsorship from the Germany Embassy, Zimbabwe German Society/Goethe Institute and Media Matrix Equipment Rental.
