ZANU-PF Vows To “Defend” Itself Against MDC

The Zanu-PF party says it is ready to defend itself from the alleged MDC planned violence tomorrow when the opposition movement takes to the streets tomorrow to demonstrate against the President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s government.

The Youth League convened in Mbare where the decision was made to “defend” the party and business people by all means necessary.

The youth league’s National Organising Secretary, Tendai Chirau accused the MDC of instigating violence in the years gone by but said this time around his party would not fold hands.

“The MDC has in past caused untoward suffering to the people. They are well-known merchants of violence, they have killed people but this time we say enough is enough,” Chirau said.

He piled the blame on the opposition party for the January violence which left more than a dozen people dead and injuring many after the army intervened in a stay away action which later turned deadly.

Information and Publicity Permanent Secretary, Nick Mangwana was quoted in the media Thursday afternoon saying Mnangagwa had agreed to the demonstration but would only unleash the army if the mass action turned violent.

“The president who is also the head of state has said the demonstration will go on with no disturbances from the security forces unless there in need for involvement,” he said.
