Wrap up of Castle Lager PSL weekend results

Castle Lager Premier Soccer League week six was full of mixed surprises as debutants prisons sides Flame Lily and Whawha registered their first wins of the season.

Flame Lily registered their first win of the season in style as they dismissed log leaders Triangle 1-0 at their new home ground Lafarge stadium. Moses Demera’s strike two minutes into the second half saw the host earning three crucial points.

Flame Lilly gaffer Nesbert ‘Yabo’ Saruchera was excited by his team’s performance over the weekend and he was pleased by their first win since they were promoted into the top flight league.

“It was our first win of the season and we are hoping to maintain the fine performance for the coming games.

“It’s too early to speculate anything but after overcoming Triangle, we are hoping to maintain the form and everybody is happy in the camp,” revealed Saruchera.

Triangle entered into the match oozing with confidence, with four wins and a draw they were expected to run riot over the new comers who come for battle one place shy anchoring the log.

Newly promoted side Whawha also registered their first win of the season against Norman Mapeza’s charges 2-1, who suffered their second defeat at Ascot Stadium on Saturday.

The much anticipated match of the weekend between Harare City and Dynamos did not live up to the expectation as the match ended in a goalless draw at Rufaro stadium, whilst at Luveve stadium Chicken Inn beat the visitors Hwange 1-0.

Action continued on Sunday when CAPS United hosted ZPC Kariba at the National Sports Stadium and again the much expected match failed to impress as the match ended in a one all stalemate.

The Bulawayo giants travelled to Rusape to face newly promoted side Dongo Sawmill at Vengere stadium and they beat the host 1-0 in their own backyard. Bosso’s victory eased the pressure that was mounting on Highlanders coach Bongani Mafu who lost his last home game.

Meanwhile Chapungu hosted Hwange at Ascot stadium and the match ended in a goalless draw. Mutare based army side travelled to the City of Kings and Queens to face debutants Tsholotsho at Luveve stadium and the match ended in a goalless draw. Buffaloes ended Tsholotsho’s two games winning streak.
