Women’s Coalition of Zimbabwe has called for an end to child marriages during the commemorations for Day of the African Child last month. The day of the African Child is celebrated every year on the 16th of June in memory of the the 16th June 1976 student uprising in Soweto, South Africa, during which students marched peacefully in protest against the poor quality of education and were brutally massacred by the then apartheid regime. Women’s Coalition For Zimbabwe is a movement formed to represent the rights of women from all walks of life.
