A Harare woman was today slapped with a 3 months jail sentence after she stole a 212 VIP perfume from an Edgars shop, Joina City outlet, costing US$170.
Prisca Chimene, 23, was dragged to court on Monday 8 February after she was caught stealing perfume.
The court heard that on the 8th of February Chimene was nabbed by David Nyamukaraza, after she tried to leave the shop with the perfume.
Prisca pleaded guilty before Harare magistrate Sabarauta.
Upon mitigation, Chimene said that she stole the perfume in order to resell it to foot her aunt’s hospital bills.
However, magistrate Sabarauta gave her a 3 months jail sentence after she refuted the community service term.
