I Wish My Father Was Still Alive: Sulumani Chimbetu

Dendera maestro, Sulumani Chimbetu’s successes in the music industry since from the moment he took over the reigns of Orchestra Dendera Kings often makes him wish if his late father Simon Chopper Chimbetu was alive.

Sulu as he is affectionately known in the music circles recently had shows in Australia and South Africa where he shared the stage with Tocky Vybz and other artistes. Upon his return back home on Tuesday, he took time to reflect on his successes.

Although his latest album Jamboree was not well received well locally, Sulu’s Australian tour reminded him that he still has space in the music industry and is keen on capitalising from that to rekindle his relationship with local fans.

“I wish my father was still alive to see how people are appreciating and loving our music.

“I know he is proud wherever he is and dedicate all this to him,” said Sulu who was accompanied by his wife Linda Samuriwo.

Sulu was met at the Harare International Airport by his legion of fans.

“I also dedicate my work to our Dendera fans, they have come from far and wide to support me.” He added.

Before Sulu travelled for his Australian tour, he was struggling to pull crowds at his shows locally so an international is what he needed to rejuvinate himself.

He is now looking forward to continuing with marketing his latest album, Jamboree.
