Zanu PF Secretary for Youths Kudzanai Chipanga has sensationally claimed on Friday that his party will clean sweep all available parliamentary and local government seats in the 2018 general elections.
Speaking during the ruling party’s National Youth Executive Council meeting which coincided with the launch of this year’s edition of the 21st February Movement to be held in Matopos, Chipanga said Zanu PF is ready to retake all the parliamentary as well as local government seats which it lost during the 2013 elections and vowed to defeat all opposition political parties.
Chipanga said this year’s 21st February Celebrations are unique as they come just over a year before the watershed elections in 2018 which makes them an opportunity to begin drumming up support for President Robert Mugabe.
“This year’s 21st February Movement celebrations are going to be quite unique and interesting given the fact that next year we will be having watershed elections.
“There is only one thing we can promise everyone, that we are going to make a clean sweep of all seats on offer be it Parliamentary or Local government, they will come back to Zanu PF particularly in those constituencies and provinces which belong to the MDC-T ,” Chipanga said.
He reassured that come next year, every ward and constituency will be Zanu PF while reiterating the need to support the first secretary of the party, President Mugabe.
“We will use this year’s celebrations to show the world that we can drum up support for our leader. We are going to have the event in the bush, were people do not stay, but we will mobilize the masses so that everyone will see how much the president is loved.
“We will also be using the whole of this year to oil our election engines as we will leave no stone un-turned in our quest to make sure we retain our lost seats. We are going to show the nation that when we talk of masses, you only find masses in Zanu PF,” said Chipanga.
He took a swipe at those fanning factionalism within the party, warning them that the youths will not be used in trying to push political agendas of small groups which want to front their own leader.
“We have one leader in Zanu PF, President Mugabe. He is the only one who was democratically chosen by the people to lead us. We now have some rogue elements who want to impose their own people to the leadership position, we will not tolerate that. We are behind President Mugabe all the way,” he declared.
This year’s 21st February Movement will be held in Matopos, Matebeleland North Province on a date yet to be announced Chipanga said.
