Weekend Entertainment Review with Munashe Chokodza

As 2017 draws closer to an end, top musicians in the country including Jah Prayzah, Sulumani Chimbetu, Killer T and many others are scrambling to release their new project in anticipation of a busy festive season. Local showbiz has never been busy as it is now as weekend after weekend, fans are spoilt for choice. This weekend was indifferent as all top guns were all busy at various venues across the city of Harare and other small towns. 263Chat Entertainment takes a look at entertainment shows at selected joints across the country.

Hwange Makomo festival

Alick Macheso, Winky D, Peter Moyo and the Charambas descended on the colliery town of Hwange for the Makomo Festival organised to celebrate the Makomo Resources’ seven years of operation. The show was a blast and Hwange people had a rare opportunity to rub shoulders with their icons who gave a good account of themselves as fans danced all night out.

Morris Depot

The traditional Commissioner’s fanfare has never disappointed from the very first time the idea was conceived and Saturday was yet another episode of fun for Harare music lovers. The family show had Killer T, Sulumani Chimbetu, The Charambas, Alick Macheso, Jah Signal and Freeman among other musicians.

Macheso, who is regarded as one of the best live performers proved his worthy with scintillating act that left fans asking for more. His performance which marked the climax of the concert and other musicians who followed after Baba Sharo also did not disappoint.

Jongwe Corner

Emirates

The two Mbare born stars Killer T and Seh Calaz were at Jongwe corner in Hatfield with the show that attractined a lot of Zimdancehall fans. The two artists gave their fans a taste of their new song which they are going to release in summer.

Alexio Kawara, an Afro Jazz artist gave his fans good value of their money.

Dreamstar Zimbabwe

On Saturday evening, Harare International Conference Centre hosted finals of this year’s Dreamstar with Harare music group Footprints clinching the first position pocketing $3000 and a recording deal beating other 13 groups from across the country.

Tsoro Arts and Taliban scooped the second and third position respectively walking away with $1500 and $750 richer.
