We Miss Simba Nhivi: Akbay

Ngezi Platinum Star head coach Erol Akbay has rued the the club’s decision to fire two senior players Simbarashe Nhivi and skipper Liberty Chakoma before adding that they will miss their services.

Akbay resembled a dead man walking he asked about the two, taking into considering that his contractual agreement with the club signed in January clearly states that he has to win the league title.

Currently, Ngezi Platinum Stars are eight on the log table having amassed a paltry 12 points this far and 10 points early runaway leaders Caps United.

Addressing the media, just after their match against fading Harare giants, DeMbare, which ended goalless, Akbay really meant it when he said they missed Nhivi. The Platinum miners created a glut of scoring chances but their strikers took turns to fluff.

The Dutch coach did not mince his words but made it clear that they really missed a true striker in Nhivi who he described as a ‘true striker who is gone’.

“I am worried because we have no strikers at the moment.. I think everyone saw it fr him or herself that we have no strikers at all. If you play good football there must be someone who would then make the good football count, but if that person is not there, then you have a big problem. We will miss Simba and now that he is gone, all is history.”

He added, ” This then means that we have to wait for mid season transfer window to buy one or two good strikers to get us where we want to be at the and of the day, but other better teams would have gone,” said Akbay
