A CHINHOYI University of Technology final year student, Kelly Manyerenyere, has held her maiden art exhibition at the Zimbabwe Museum of Human Sciences in Harare.

The exhibition is titled ‘Creative Fusion’. Showcasing a wide array of visual art it takes visitors on a tour of different facets of the artist’s world and imagination.
Kelly herself describes the exhibition as a web of creativity and imagination of the human mind and an exploration in visual artifacts.
“Everyone has an imaginative mind,” she said. “I just experiment using different material. I do drawing, painting, graphic designing, photography, textile designing, print making, three dimensional designs, all sorts,” she added.
Kelly was born and bred in Harare and did her ‘O’ levels at Langham Girls high school in Mvurwi and ‘A’ level at Ilsa College in Harare respectively.
During high school she says she had a strong appreciation of art but never got an opportunity to study it. Her chance came in 2015 when enrolled in the School of Art and Design at Chinhoyi University of Technology even though her family had resisted her earlier efforts to study art.
Her passion and appreciation for art drove her during the past four years that she has been at the university.
Design concepts developed with other seasoned graphic designers/artists like Calvin Chimutuwah and Hermit Muyambo also influenced her imagination and how she views all aspects of art.
The artworks on show come in a variety of genres such as three dimensional and two dimensional artworks in the categories of drawings, textile designs, print making, fashion designs, photographs, graphic designs,3D designs and advertising material.
The artist developed all these artworks to explore and show how powerful imagination can be in developing aesthetically pleasing, attractive and creative artworks in a world in which she believes that “everything is art”.
“I want to do a master’s degree and be a curator of artifacts,” Kelly said.
