Transform Zimbabwe has urged Zanu Pf to rein on its supporters who are suspected to be behind recent attacks on opposition members.
Suspected twelve Zanu PF Youths allegedly terrorised and severely assaulted Transform Zimbabwe members in Chitungwiza last weekend, which left four people injured.
Transform Zimbabwe is doing its ongoing clean- up campaign nationwide in an effort to scale up typhoid and cholera outbreak in Zimbabwe.
In an interview, TZ president Jacob Ngarivhume condemns the acrimony which betrays an ingrained and unrelenting intolerance in the rank and file of the ruling party which continuously prevents it from brooking alternative voices.
The TZ leader said such behaviour was regrettable and should be condemned.
“We condemn forms of violence as a tool to stop citizens from taking care of their destiny , and this has gone on for long and we must draw a line on the sand now.
“Zanu Pf is a violent political party. This is their language and DNA but there comes a time what the people of Zimbabwe got to say enough is enough”, added Ngarivhume.
TZ president highlighted that violence cannot be accepted as way of our politics and we are not going to accept that as a party.
The TZ volunteers and members were beaten up by the youths using shovels, racks and brooms belonging to Chitungwiza Municipality, which had availed the equipment to the volunteers as part of their support clean -up campaign.
Speaking at the same occasion, Head of Protocol for TZ Tangai Takaruza castigated the youths’ actions describing it as barbaric and undemocratic.
“It is baffling to see how some people from Zanu pf would engage violence to disrupt such good initiatives. We are saying typhoid knows no political boundaries and let us join hands to clean this city so that we all live in cleaner and healthier communities.
“We are saying as a party, let us stop blaming each other for the dirt in our communities and start acting on it,” said Takaruza.

The youths accused TZ of stealing ‘their limelight’ with some of them branding TZ ‘as agents of the regime change agenda’.
Meanwhile, the attack on TZ volunteers and members comes in the wake of a statement by the Deputy Commissioner General of Police, Innocent Matibiri calling on the police to be vigilant as the country heads for the watershed elections.
Commissioner Matibiri is on record saying “as police, we should remain vigilant ….. Safeguarding peace and stability ahead of the harmonized 2018 general elections.”
