A Zimbabwe Republic Police(ZRP) officer has been dragged before the Harare Magistrate’s court for assaulting his wife after she served him matemba for dinner.
Pension Nyahanda who is a senior ZRP officer appeared before Magistrate Tilda Mazhande and was remanded out of custody on $50 bail.
According to the state, represented by Devoted Nyagano and Talkmore Muganhiri, the crime took place on the 15th of September 2018 when the accused came back from work and was served sadza with matemba by the complainant, his wife.
This did not go down well with the accused who started to shout at the complainant accusing her of eating meat in his absence.
He started assaulting her with an electric cable until she sought refuge outside the house.
The accused will be back in court on the 4th of October for routine remand.
