Scores of Zimbabweans from across the political divide have collectively rejected the appointment of Acie Lumumba as the Chairperson of the communication Task-force in the ministry of Finance.
William Gerald Mutumanje, better known as Acie Lumumba, will as announced by Finance Minister Mthuli Ncube, chair the ministry’s ‘Communications Taskforce’.
The masses accused Minister Ncube of being delusive , as the appointment flew in the face of the austerity measures that he announced recently.
Below are some of the comments from Zimbos on Twitter.
1. The optimism which Finance Minister Ncube brought is at risk of evaporating. He has bn making a lot of controversial decisions some which are bringing derision onto the President Gvnt at a time the Finance Minister is supposed to be injecting confidence, credibility & optimism!

Dear Zimbabwe: The appointment of Lumumba to a strategic role in the Ministry of Finance is not only duplicitous but contradicts with & demeans @InfoMinZW & @nickmangwana's portfolio. Given Acie's record, I'm not sure if anybody will take anything from him seriously. @MthuliNcube pic.twitter.com/7asS4hZVVc

So @MthuliNcube does this appointment make any other PRDept or @InfoMinZW or @nickmangwana redundant? I’m afraid I don’t see the logic when we’re supposed to be cutting costs. It’s an appointment letter, where’s the contract that stipulates associated costs?Tbh it’s a circus joke pic.twitter.com/ld27Af1lr5

Samuel Undenge was convicted for exactly what Mthuli Ncube has done. The charge was that he did not go to tender. Has Mthuli gone to tender in appointing his Communications Taskforce? Where did he advertise? pic.twitter.com/DaOW2DnOBL

I really wanted to believe in @MthuliNcube but.

When everyone’s working hard to restore Zim’s credibility @MthuliNcube goes very far left! @edmnangagwa @nickmangwana @matigary @TrevorNcube @ShingiMunyeza

Mthuli Ncube went from hero to zero in record time. The 2% tax was catastrophic. Acie Lumumba? The last, lingering goodwill evaporated pic.twitter.com/vFPCMsm554
