Thousands Turn Up For HIFA

Despite the biting economic hardships in Zimbabwe, Harare International Festival of Arts (HIFA) is proving too good to resist for showbiz lovers in Harare.

The prestigious arts festival, returning after a one year absence kicked off on Tuesday the 2nd of May at the Harare Gardens with an opening show that was well attended and the trend has remained like that.

In an interview with 263Chat, many people who attended HIFA said they find HIFA as one of the must not miss events on the showbiz calendar.

“I am very happy and the show was great. I have brought my family with me since last year I did not manage to,” said Pretty Chisango during the opening show.

Tickets to attend the show range from US$8 to $20 with the ZOL main stage being the most expensive.

Other venues outside the central business district like Reps Theatre in Belgravia have also been reportedly recording good numbers in terms of attendance.

With a star studded line of local musicians like Oliver Mtukudzi, Hope Masike and Winky D, local showbiz lovers still find time and resources never to miss their acts.

“Its good when we have our own local musicians such as Mtukudzi and Winky D performing at HIFA and the only thing we can do is to support them.
