Third Force Behind ZHDA President Abduction: Govt

Government has blamed what it called a Third Force for the abduction of Zimbabwe Hospital Doctors Association (ZHDA) President Dr Peter Magombeyi who was abducted by suspected state security agents on Saturday evening.

Dr Magombeyi who has been at the forefront of leading doctors’s demands for improved working conditions was abducted on Saturday night and has not been located.

But posting on Twitter, government spokesperson, Nick Mangwana said they had no hand in Dr Magombeyi’s abduction adding that they have no reason to destabilize the country and undermine themselves.

“This Administration has no reason to destabilise this country by abducting its citizens. Threats to the security of persons and acts of terror are ultimately threats to the security of the State. There is no rhyme nor reason for the State to undermine itself #3rdforce,” posted Mangwana.

The state claims it does not know where Dr Magombeyi is being held announcing that they are seized with the matter.

The doctors mainly from Parirenyatwa today marched to handover a petition to President Emmerson Mnangagwa but were blocked by the police at the corner Central Avenue and Sam Nujoma who only allowed six of their leaders to proceed to deliver the letter at Munhumutapa.

Among their demands were that they will not return to work until their leader is brought back by his abductors.

Government is battling to distance itself from a recent wave of abductions that saw popular comedienne Gonyeti also falling victim to unidentified people who raided her house in Mufakose and abducted her at night.

Many other opposition aligned people who have been abducted of late include Amalgamated Rural Teachers Union of Zimbabwe President Obert Masaraure, Citizen Manifesto member Tatenda Mombeyarara among others.
