Article 17 of the Zimbabwean Constitution adopted in 2013 guarantees gender equality in all areas of decision-making, but the Constitution only spells out a quota for women in parliament, not in any other area, including local government.

The NPF has in the past few days, been linked to the MDC Alliance in an effort to forge an alliance that could enhance their chances of winning the forthcoming polls.
"It is regrettable that these patently reckless statements at public forums and clandestine interviews, done nocturnally, have been taken an official party position when in fact NPF has a clear operational structure that deals with leadership identification as we grow our party," added the statement.
