Gweru-based fast foods outlet Steak n’ Chips which recently invaded the Gweru fast foods market is set to spread its wings beyond the city in an endevour to make its mark in Zimbabwe introducing new products in the process.
Recently, the company renovated and expanded its Gweru branch along Leopold Takawira Avenue and corner Main Street to full-fledged fast food outlet and has hinted on plans to go beyond Gweru.
Steak n’ Chips owner Tawedzerwa Mudzvoka said the expansion mission is inspired by the desire to serve Gweru and beyond creating employment in the process especially for the youths in the city.
“We are driven by the desire to create employment and to show that we are a formidable force, to show that we are here to stay and give the people of Gweru and beyond an alternative with local products.
“Soon we will be going to big cities. AS I speak, we are at advanced stages in Bulawayo and Zvishavane and by the beginning of October we will be having those two branches running,” he said.
In terms of employment, Mudzvoka said their focus is mostly on the local youths and balancing gender concerns.
“Currently we have a total of 50 employees across all our three branches in Gweru including the bakery in Mkoba, with 24 of them working at our newly upgraded branch with two shifts, each shift having 7 ladies and 5 guys. The majority of our employees are youths as you have seen.
“Soon we will also be launching a lot of promotional programmes to attract more business as we continue to grow. The market has been friendly to us. The kind of business that we getting does not reflkect a company that is at its infancy stage having opened our doors to the public in April. We are busy at any given point,” Mudzvoka said.
The company has also introduced a new department, Creamy Eats that focuses on ice creams and other related products.
“We are bringing competition in the industry and we have introduced a new department called Creamy Eats which sells ice creams, milk shakes and soon will be upping our game to provide candy flows and other products,” Mudzoka said.
Mudzoka applauded corporates in Gweru for being fully behind his project. Recently they supplied more than 3000 people during the recent Midlands State University graduation ceremony and were the biggest supplier.
Steak n’ Chips will be exhibiting during the upcoming Midlands Agricultural Show set for the 15th to the 19th of August, The food outlet will have a fully-fledged stand with a kitchen that will be cooking and serving show-goers on the spot. The company will also be sponsoring a modelling pageant during the show.
Steak n’ Chips officially opened its doors in April this year and has so far given more than competition to traditional national and international fast food companies in the City of Progress.
