Bulawayo music lovers who have in the past been sidelined when it comes to international artists will have a rare occasion to watch celebrated Jamaican Dance-hall guru, Busy Signal performing in their backyard during the Y2K SAMA festival penciled for early August this year.
The festival, big in England will this year give local music lovers a rare opportunity to watch their favorite local and international stars perform in Zimbabwe.
Unlike in the past when Jah Prayzah, Oliver Mtukudzi and Winky D and other local musicians performed at the festival in England, Y2K Promotions has decided to bring the show on home soil.
Brian Hazangwi, Y2K’s Promotional Manager said the decision to bring the festival in Zimbabwe was their desire to give local fans a big show to enjoy.
“We have thought to give our home fans the biggest show by bringing Busy Signal.
“Busy Signal has been in Zimbabwe and him coming back will give his fans in Bulawayo a feel of his music live on stage,” said Hazangwi.
Furthermore, Hazangwi said they are trying to promote local musicians to became international stars.
“In the past we have been promoting young artists like Ras Pompy and Spiderman, giving them scholarships and promoting their music,” said Hazangwi.
He added that their aim is to make Zimbabwean music the best in Africa.
This will be the first time Busy Signal will perform in Zimbabwe’s second largest city of Bulawayo.
Surprisingly, in the past, only Harare hosted major shows featuring international artists.
