After playing second fiddle to Zimdancehall which keeps gaining more ground against other genres, South African based Zimbabwean gospel musicians have teamed up to popularize their genre with a family show in Cape Town on the 1st of July 2018.
Speaking to 263Chat one of the artists lined up to perform at the show, Rowan Madzamba, revealed that, they are pursuing the vision of touring South Africa with the Capetown show their second event after Durban.
“We hosted Durban family gospel show which really had a good turnout and with such a feedback we thought to ourselves to say, but why not just do a tour all around South Africa and now here we are, we are going to Capetown next in a vision to move all around SA” said ecstatic Madzamba.
“We realized that gospel music genre has been lagging behind, as only Sungura and dance-hall artists are the ones getting invited for shows here, as if all gospel artists are dead and buried,” he added.
He also said they will be using the shows to discover and establish new talent.
“The line-up will consist of established and upcoming gospel artists. Anyone looking to support us, that is sponsors and companies in Capetown they are really welcome,” said Madzamba.
Other artists lined up for the concert to be held at the All Nations Church Philipi Chicken Farm includes Macmillan Mhlala, Phebion Tagagrira and Rowan Madzamba.
