Public interviews to select the new Prosecutor General are currently underway in Harare.
As of midday, Charles Chinyama and acting PG, Advocate Ray Goba had already appeared before the Judicial Services Commission with five others including Florence Ziyambi, Misheck Hongwe and the First Lady Grace Mugabe’s lawyer, Wilson Manase yet to appear.
Charles Chinyama however previously had 13 counts of misconduct before the law society and Advocate Goba is accused of obstructing justice while serving as Deputy Prosecutor General in Namibia.
The post of the Prosecutor General fell vacant following the sacking of former PG Johannes Tomana by President Robert Mugabe on allegations of incompetence and misconduct.
The interviewing panel is made up of Advocate Prince Machaya, Harrison Zhou and Lloyd Mhishi among others.
