The local soccer governing board, Premier Soccer League (PSL) has summoned Bulawayo City assistant coach Farai Mujokoro and kit manager Gift Mvala to appear before its disciplinary committee to respond to match fixing allegations.
The two are accused of coercing to fix a match pitting the two teams at Dulivadzimu Stadium on August 3 after they approached Border Strikers’ goalkeeper Talent Sande with $300 to throw way the match.
Sande, who is now the witness in the case, is believed to have received Whatsapp messages from Mujokoro and Mvala, asking him to throw away the match for monetary gain.
However, he set up a ruse which exposed Mujokoro and Mvala .
The club is charged with breaching Order 31.1.3 which states that it is an offence if “players, officials, servants or duly authorized (expressed or implied) representatives, for any corrupt, dishonesty or lawful purpose in connection with a game played under the auspices of the league, or in connection with the affairs of the league, give, offer or promise, whether directly or indirectly, any inducement, reward or bribe of whatsoever nature, to anybody whatsoever.
The two are expected to appear before the Kenny Ndebele led PSL disciplinary committee on 6 September.
