Women entrepreneurs have urged government to give them first preference in all business deals, if the country is to be considered truly open for business.
Addressing a FemBioBiz Acceleration Programme in Harare today, Guest of Honor, Eve Gadzikwa hailed government for creating a specific ministry for women adding that there is need to prioritize women in order to rescue the economy.
“The government of Zimbabwe has shown its commitment to the development of women in business by setting up a fully-fledged ministry to deal with women empowerment. This shows that women can significantly contribute to socio-economic development if given the right support,” said Gadzikwa.
She added that women are key in unlocking the economic potential and development of Zimbabwe.
“when women work economies grow,” added Gadzikwa.
Speaking on behalf of the Ministry of Higher and Tertiary Education, Rungano Karimanzira said government was committed to offer all the training needed by women to succeed in their business ventures.
“As you all know without the requisite training our efforts to grow the economy will be curtailed. Hence in this training my ministry through the National Biotechnology Authority, our agency, will give the women bio-entrepreneurs the requisite skills for their enterprising journey,” she said.
