Castle Lager Premier Soccer League resumes this weekend after a two weeks break with the much anticipated match of the season on the cards between long-standing rivals Harare giants Dynamos and Bulawayo giants Highlanders clash at Rufaro Stadium on Sunday.
Highlanders will be hoping to finally end their beaten run to Dynamos that stretches back from 2006 and it will be the first time Bongani Mafu faces Dynamos since taking over as head coach. His opposite number David Mandigora heads into the match under pressure from his fans to deliver.
Bosso players went under intensive training this week at a boot camp located at Hillside Dams ahead of the tough encounter against Dynamos and close sources in the camp revealed.
“The coach says he needs to work on the fitness level of the player ahead of the crucial encounter. The training was so intensive and we hired a fitness trainer, who was working with us,” revealed the source.
Dynamos gaffer David Mandigora is worried about meeting Highlanders soon after a two weeks break and he will be hoping to win the fans over by beating their rivals at Rufaro Stadium.
“We are coming off a break and this is not the best time to face Highlanders, but be that may there is never a better time to face them , we have decent history over them but we have to win as history does not count in such matches.
“We have to play as a unit and also the support from our fans is going to be crucial, we trained well and hopefully we will show it on the field of play come Sunday,” revealed Mandigora.
Harare City will lock horns with CAPS United at Rufaro Stadium in what promises to be a trilling Harare derby. The Sunshine City Boys will enter into the derby oozing with confidence after they thwarted Dongo Sawmills 3 nil before the league break.
CAPS United will enter into the match as the underdogs as they struggled to labour a point against struggling Flame Lily and during the break their coach resigned.
League leaders Chicken Inn will face debutants Dongo Sawmils at Luveve Stadium and they will be hoping to extend their lead as they are comfortably on 29 point from 13 matches.
FC Platinum will be hoping to find their winning formula when they date Mutare-based army side Buffaloes at Mandava Stadium. The platinum miners were held to one all draw by Hwange and they will be hoping to turn the tables and pounds on struggling Buffaloes.
On Sunday it will be the battle of miners as How Mine clash with Hwange at Luveve Stadium and new comers Whawha will host Chapungu at Ascot Stadium in what promises to be an interesting Gweru derby.
In-form Triangle will host ZPC Kariba at Gibbo Stadium whilst Tsholotsho FC will face fellow debutants at White City Stadium.
