Pre-release leaks say we’re in for the best GTel smartphone yet

We have just a little less than a month until GTel unveils its latest flagship smartphone, but the smartphone has already featured in a variety of rumors and leaks that not only showed us the final design of the handset but also revealed everything there is to know about it in terms of hardware and potential features.

By Eliah Sarayi

TechnoMag, who leaked quite a few details about unreleased GTel smartphones in the past, including the SL 5.1, MX1 and the X3 apparently have access to a treasure-trove of information about the yet to be named smartphone, and while they haven’t been able to test a real device, they shared a ton of details about it.

The yet to be named high end smartphone will feature a 1080p (1920 x 1080) Super AMOLED screen measuring 5.5-inch. The screen has a couple of tricks, which have not been leaked but what we know for sure is that it will include a pressure sensitive display. The phone sports a physical home button below the display, and that button actually doubles as a fingerprint scanner.

The smartphone will ship with 4GB of RAM and an improved RAM management system – this should come in handy for an improved overall app load time and system performance.

The 64GB handset does come with support for microSD cards – up to 128GB of storage – and packs a microSD port rather than a USB-C chip. GTel is tipped to have improved microSD card performance, this being one reason the feature is returning.

The smartphone will pack an 8-megapixel front camera, but the real star will be the 16-megapixel shooter on the back that incorporates PDAF. According to TechnoMag, the new phone’s main camera will take even better shots in low-light condition and will have an almost instant auto-focus feature – so fast that turning on the camera app takes more time than the deployment of AF. The camera features increased clarity and brightness, and better HDR.

Battery-wise, the smartphone features a 3,000mAh non-removable battery that should give you 12 hours of video playback at full brightness. Responsible for much better battery autonomy is not just the capacity but also the even more energy-efficient chips and software improvisations.

Finally, as far as software is concerned, it will ship with Android 6.0 Marshmallow with the company’s Amigo OS 3.2 on top of it.

The handset should go on sale starting 28 April 2016. Keep following this writer and you sure should capture a glimpse of some images.
