The Postal and Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe (Potraz) yesterday donated 96 computers and other information communication technology equipment to institutions for people living with disabilities and government schools.
The equipment which includes a multi-purpose printer, and an advancement presentation projector were all procured under Potraz’s Universal Service Fund (USF) to support the government’s e-learning project.
Speaking the official handover of the equipment to Jairosi Jiri, Dorothy Duncan, Karoi High School and Mckertuan Primary School earlier this morning, the Potraz Director General, Dr. Gift Machengete said spearheading technology advancement is one of the regulator’s mandates.
“Despite disbursing ICT gadgets to various schools across the country, Potraz is now in the process of procuring assistive software for institutions for people living with disabilities. The authority hopes that these interventions will go a long way in alleviating the challenges being experienced by people with disabilities as well as creating an environment conducive for equal access to information” said Machengete.
