The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) Commissioner General, Godwin Matanga has re-assigned Deputy Commissioner Generals to new portfolios as part of performance enhancement strategy and ensuring versatility within the force.
In a statement released this morning, Assistant Commissioner, Paul Nyathi said the changes are meant to meet new policing demands going forward.
“The Zimbabwe Republic Police advices the public that the Commissioner Geenral of Police, Tandabantu Godwin Matanga has re-assigned Deputy Commissioner Generals in the Police to new portfolios as listed,
“Deputy Commissioner General Stephen Mutamba from Operations to Administration as Deputy Commissioner General (Administration), Deputy Commissioner Mind Elliot Ngirandi from Crime to Human Resources as Deputy Commissioner General (Human Resources),” said Nyathi.
Deputy Commissioner General Learn Ncube will leave Administration to focus on Operations as Deputy Commissioner General (Operations).
Deputy Commissioner General Lorraine Chipato who headed the Human Resources department has been re-assigned to head the department of Crime as Deputy Commissioner General (Crime).
“The re-assignment is part of the Zimbabwe Republic Police’s Human Resources Policy of enhancing performance in the organization, ensure versatility among the senior officers, tapping into the senior officers’ experience as well as expertise, job rotation and the need to meet new policing demands as the country gears for Vision 2030,” Nyathi.
The restructuring comes at a time the public is pinning hopes on the force to crack down on unrelenting armed robberies taking place across the country that have left many Zimbabweans feeling vulnerable.
