Paul Madzore Rejoins MDC-T

Former Glen View South legislator, Paul Madzore has joined the long list of top officials who have dumped Tendai Biti’s People’s Democratic Party to rejoin the Movement for Democratic Change led by Morgan Tsvangirai.

Madzore who left MDC-T together with Tendai Biti, Elton Mangoma and many other senior party officials to form the MDC Renewal was on Thursday paraded to the media and party leadership at the party’s headquarters in Harare. The Renewal team later disintegrated with Mangoma forming Renewal Democrats of Zimbabwe (RDZ) and Biti transforming the movement to People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

Addressing Journalists at the party’s headquarters, Madzore said he pleaded with the party to readmit him, “Speaking on behalf of my fellow comrades whom I have returned with, we thank you for taking us back for we were lost,” he said.

Madzore returned with Nelson Mukwena, Pearson Mungofa and Victor Chifodya who had all abandoned the party as well.

“I just want to thank you all who have welcomed me back and I want to promise you that I will never leave you my fellow comrades again,” he said.

Welcoming the returning members, Tsvangirai expressed happiness over their retracing roots.

“I am really happy with these fellow comrades who are back in the party. There is a verse of the prodigal son in the bible, therefore, those who got lost and come back again are most welcomed,” said Tsvangirai.

He however urged party members to remain in the party and not get tempted to leave.

“As we are welcoming our fellow members, please do not get tempted to leave the party, let us stick together and finish the struggle we have started,” said Tsvangirai.

Madzore is credited for composing and recording MDC jingles including the popular Chirangano that he released prior to the March 2008 elections.
