Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has addressed President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s “Mr Bean” dig after Zimbabwe senior men’s cricket team’s victory over Pakistan at the T20 World Cup which is currently underway in Australia.
Zimbabwe beat Pakistan by one run in a thriller Super 12 Group 2 match played yesterday in Perth Australia.
Saluting The Chevrons for a historic win, Mnangagwa hailed the beautiful display of play before reminding Pakistanis that this was their punishment for the fake Mr Bean who once visited Zimbabwe parading as popular comedian Rowan Atkinson.
“What a win for Zimbabwe! Congratulations to the Chevrons. Next time, send the real Mr Bean…#PakvsZim,” wrote Mnangagwa.
Responding, Pakistan’s Sharif acknowledged that they definitely do not have a real Mr Bean but they will bounce back from this defeat.
“We may not have the real Mr Bean, but we have a real cricketing spirit .. and we Pakistanis have a funny habit of bouncing back:) Mr President: Congratulations. Your team played really well today.”
The Mr Bean jest emanated from the time a Pakistan man named Asif Muhammed travelled to Zimbabwe in 2016 and is a lookalike of the iconic British actor Rowan Atkinson.
The Pakistan national presented himself as Atkinson and “duped” a number of people.
