Outrage As Mike Chimombe Gets Off The Hook

Flamboyant businessman and the ruling ZANU PF Central Committee member Mike Chimombe has been acquitted of a fraud charge involving over US$16 000, a development that has sparked outrage among citizens.

Chimombe becomes the second ZANU PF official after Justice Mayor Wadyajena to dodge prison over fraud and corrupt activities while Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) legislator Job Sikhala remains behind bars for “inciting violence.”

Chimombe was arrested for defrauding a Harare man of US$16,900 in a botched residential stand deal.

Reacting to the news of his release, citizens queried the criteria Zimbabwean courts use, where one is kept behind bars for months without trial while the likes of Chimombe and Wadyajena have their cases attended to with urgency.

“It defies logic and the whole of my Theology. This is a solid proof that our Judiciary system is so inexplicable. Chimombe was arrested last month and I shudder to imagine that his trial and judgement was so quick, leading to his acquittal whereas Job Sikhala is rotting in maximum prison for almost 6 solid months without even a single trial,” Facebook user Welly Chinyama commented.

Another section ruled that Zimbabwean courts are captured.

“No need to update people of the obvious outcomes!! The Courts have made country laws a big circus. You cant jail a part of the cartel..Its just another day in our captured courts..Rubbish!!,” Courage Sithole added

“And the ones fighting for a corruption-free Zimbabwe is languishing in prison without trial. Free all political prisoners!” Mutero Portia.

“The judiciary system is captured by Zanu pf , actually all government institutions are captured to the favour of varakashi,” Enoch Gondo.

Sikhala has arrested over three months ago together with legislator, Godfrey Sithole, and a dozen other party activists for allegedly inciting the violence which rocked slain CCC activist, Moreblessing Ali’s funeral.
