A CIMAS medical aid nurse was dragged to court on Wednesday for issuing a fake Covid-19 certificate to a local bank employee Nyasha Sydney Richards.
The nurse, Farai Chimhaka appeared before Harare magistrate Yeukai Dzuda charged with fraud and was granted ZWL$10 000 bail.
On June 22, Chimhaka prepared and issued a fake PCR certificate to Richards.
Richards is said to have went on and presented the forged documents to his AFC Bank superiors, claiming to be Covid-19 positive.
This resulted in a follow up by the bank only to uncover that the documents had been forged.
This came after the CIMAS officials made enquiries with the medical health insurer only to find the test results as fake together with the signature on the document.
Chimhaka’s arrest came after further investigations into the matter.
