The opposition National Patriotic Front (NPF) has threatened to use the July 30 harmonized elections to ‘cure’ the 15 November 2017 military coup which displaced former President Robert Mugabe from power.
Former cabinet Minister, Patrick Zhuwao who is now a member of NPF said they are unanimous that it is their patriotic duty and a generational responsibility to reverse the military coup of November last year.
“As outlined in the first sentence of the NPF’s Consultation Points Document, NPF’s founders are unanimous that it is a patriotic duty and generational responsibility, for Zimbabwe’s sake, to lawfully and democratically reverse the military coup of 15 November 2017 in the context of the forthcoming general elections,” said Zhuwao.
“Consequently, NPF will be taking appropriate action to ensure the alignment of all activities and processes regarding the 2018 general elections, with the overall objective of curing the 15 November 2017 coup,” added Zhuwao.
NPF leader, Retired Brigadier Ambrose Mutinhiri is among the 23 Presidential candidates contesting the July 30 Presidential elections after failing to seal a coalition deal with MDC Alliance which looked imminent until the sitting of the nomination court last week Thursday.
