Three nongovernmental organizations recently launched a women led nutrition programme targeting Cyclone Idai survivors, officials from the respective organisations.

Action Aid Zimbabwe in partnership with Jekesa Pfungwa/Vuligqondo and Simukai Child protection have introduced an early recovery programme for women and children under five years.
Jekesa Pfungwa Director Bertha Jambaya said the target programme, providing nutritional and psychological support for women and young girls, was responsive to the disproportionate effects of Cyclone Idai on women.
Jambaya said this intervention would also seek to provide women with a foundation for post trauma recovery and building self-esteem.
Action Aid Zimbabwe focal person for the Women Led Emergency Programme, Peter Matindi said the programme would emphasize on our humanitarian signature of promoting women leadership in grassroots communities.
He added that part of the intervention activities included the erection of wooden shelters as safe places to provide extended support for women as well as providing information on gender based Violence.
