Netone launches ‘Mbiri Yedu Trail’

Netone has launched rolled out its base station trail  dubbed the  ‘Igniting Mbiri   Yedu Trail’, which started off in Nyanga for a cost of $250 000.

The new project is part of the company’s commitment to deliver communication to every corner of Zimbabwe.

Speaking at the launch Netone Acting  Chief Executive Officer, Mr Brian Mutandiro said the company remains committed to  change the communications sector.

“We are opening at least 11 base stations and will be carrying out various activities in line with the 20 year celebrations where you as our customers will be rewarded for your loyalty to Netone.

The company which recorded an increase in market share from 32.4% to 33.8% in the fourth quarter of 2015 also had the highest increase in subscriber base rising from 2, 5 million to 4 million as at December 2015.

In a speech read on his behalf by  Beullah Chirume, the  Acting Principal Director in the ICT ministry, Minister Supa Mandiwanzira said the new project will bring a new dispensation.

“Through progressive organisations like Netone, which fall under my purview, we embarked on an ambitious program  to bring about a new dispensation.

He added that Netone has installed at least seven base stations in Nyanga, which will ensure that Zimbabwe catches with the world technological advancement.

“These are base stations which the organisation put in less than 24 month, all in a bid to make sure that villagers of this area can communicate with their loved ones without hindrance.

“We are not stopping there. This base station we are launching here is just another project aimed at ensuring that not just Nyanga,but Zimbabwe in its entirely catches up with the rest of the world in technological advancement,” said Minister Mandiwanzira
