Four Murewa based artists, Trizz, Vincent Ck and Passmore, have collaborated with Mega4 studios on a song titled Siyai Vana Wedu which condemns ritual killing of juveniles.
This follows events that left the whole of Zimbabwe shell shocked where seven-year-old Tapiwa Makore from Murewa was found decapitated in what turned out to be a ritual killing fostered by the juvenile’s uncle.
In an interview with 263Chat, the four confirmed that they were moved to sing Siyai Vana Wedu after the horrendous murder of Makore for rituals.
“We are still moved with what happened to this young boy and the least we could do as artists in reaction to the developments was to pen down a song. The song is only saying no to rituals, we are standing for our children, they have the right to live,” said the artists in a statement.
The incident also drew the attention of President Emmerson Mnangagwa who urged members of the judicial system to speedily deal with the matter.
“I am disturbed by the loss of young children as a result of heinous and evil actions for rituals and witchcraft purposes. These cold-hearted acts of murder have no place in our country.
“The stakeholders in our criminal justice system must speedily and strongly deal with perpetrators so that this evil trend is expunged from our society,” said Mnangagwa during a virtual Junior Cabinet meeting at State House recently.
Tapiwa’s uncle, a herd man and sangoma involved in the ritual murder of the juvenile have since been apprehended.
