Manicaland Province Zanu PF chairperson, Mike Madiro, has all but confirmed that President Emmerson Mnangagwa skipped the country through the Forbes Border Post , into Mozambique, moments after he was expelled from the ruling party last month.
Madiro , who was speaking in Nyanga over the weekend, said after realizing that his life was under threat from the G40 “thugs”, President Mnangagwa ran for his life to Mozambique ,a statement which cleared the air on how Mnangagwa ended up in South Africa .
“After his life (Mnangagwa) was under threat from the G40 cabal, led by thieves like Kasukuwere and Jonathan Moyo, the president ran for his dear life into Mozambique through the Forbes Border Post.
“From Mozambique, he was ferried to South Africa where he sought refugee for two weeks before returning as President.
“The man who ran away and was described as a border jumper by some members of the cartel, is now our president, this is all God’s doing,” said Madiro.
His sentiments put to rest the debate on how Mnangagwa ended up in South Africa upon his expulsion by former president , Robert Mugabe a month ago.
Although he has already confirmed that he ran away from the country fearing for his life, President Mnangagwa has not opened up on he how ended up in South Africa.
President Mnangagwa revealed that he received a tip off that the G40 Cabal was after his life , after relationships between him and the the Grace Mugabe led faction soured for the worst.
He was mocked during one the several rallies ,as some former Ministers, including Kasukuwere and Mandi Chimene, took turns to humiliate the then former Vice President.
Mnangagwa has since assumed the presidency, after the resignation of former president , Robert Mugabe, albeit, under the intervention of the army.
Meanwhile, Madiro has pledged to work with the new president in an effort to develop the country after being dumped by the G40 faction several times.
“I’m not going to allow a situation where the province will be divided , we are going to work together to develop this province and country. We will work with the president to ensure that the country returns to its former glory,” said Madiro.
