Independent Norton legislator, Temba Mliswa has called on journalists to report on issues that help in improving the economic well-being of the nation rather than concentrating on what he termed ‘destruction kind of journalism.’
Addressing journalists at a press conference in Harare on Tuesday, Mliswa encouraged journalists to cover bread and butter issues saying that will only help to recover Zimbabwe’s dying economy.
“Journalists need to report on issues to do with the well-being of the nation, bread and butter issues which can help the community and the nation at large in recovering our economy.
“These are the ethics we know and journalists should stick to that in order for the nation to go forward. The country needs such kind of journalists who have passion in building the nation in their way of reporting,” said Mliswa.
The firebrand former Zanu PF Mashonaland West Chairperson condemned ‘destruction’ kind of reporting, saying the country is waiting for the other generation of journalists who will build Zimbabwe through their way of reporting.
“The next generation of journalists who will report ethically will come, and they will help rebuild this country. The country is eagerly waiting for that,” Mliswa said.
