Movement for Democratic Change (MDC-T) leader and MDC Alliance Presidential candidate, Advocate Nelson Chamisa has raised eyebrows once again over his recent jibe about handing over his 18 year old sister to President Emmerson Mnangagwa should he score five percent of votes in the forthcoming elections.
Chamisa who seems to be at the mercy of thorough scrutiny over his remarks and lately labeled as more comedian than politician around social media circles was speaking at a rally in United Kingdom over the weekend.
“Ngwena tikaita election iri fair and free akawana 5% ndinonomupa kana sisi vangu, ndina sisi vakaita 18 manje manje varikutsvaga murume, akaigona Ngwena ndinonomuti huya utore sis vangu ivavo (if we have a free and fair election and the crocodile (Mnangagwa) wins up to five percent of voters, I will give him my sister. I have a sister who’s just turned 18 and is looking for a husband. If the crocodile makes it i will give her to him),” said the youthful leader.
The statement has attracted mixed with some taking it as a mere joke while others felt it revealed his disrespect for women.
I was there with boys ears wide open. He made a narrative of a sister and used that to illustrate a point of something IMPOSSIBLE. Dont twist speeches we listened to LIVE. I recorded everything from start to finish. Dont try your propaganda on twitter. We are here to stop LIES
Braa its just a figure of speech. A joke… humour…Chill broe…

Imi ndimi musiri normal. If you can’t figure out that people are allowed and free to make their own choice then you are the abnormal ones.
Anopenga ndeuyo unotovhotera uya unobheja sisi vake pa rally. Unofunga kuti nenyika zvayaita izvi vakadzi vanogona kushandiswa se zvinhu zvekuhwinha nazvo mavhotsi. Its shallow mindedness.

After the “statement” Chamisa broke several ribs into laughter and as much as it may be seen as humor or portrayal of an impossible scenario, there are better ways to say or suggest that than using women as objects.
