Mighty Warriors midfielder and captain, Felistas Muzongondi believes they still stand good chances of qualifying to the next round of the African Women’s Cup of Nations despite registering a negative result against the Pharaohs of Egypt.
The Mighty warriors had their goal ruled out as an offside by Burundi referee Suavis Iratunga leaving them with a point from two games and sitting on third position on at the ongoing AWCON finals.
Despite being hard-done by the referee’s decision, Muzongondi says the team has recovered from the disappointment and working hard to collect maximum points against hosts, Cameroon in a make or break encounter.
“We still have a chance of making to the semi-finals that is if we do not suffer from another disappointing officiating again.
“We need to focus and concentrate for the whole 90 minutes because we do not know what the other result from the other match will be like” she said.
Muzongondi believe Zimbabwe has the right players who can rise to the occasion and go all the way to the finals if they can make it past the group stages.
Zimbabwe can still qualify for the semi-finals if they beat hosts Cameroon tomorrow.
Meanwhile, Nigeria were held to a one all draw by Ghana and both teams are on four points going into the last round of matches in the group stages.
Mali collected maximum points against Kenya 3-1, a result that sent the East African team packing with one match to go.
